man in a suitcase - 6/365

Every hotel room key from last year. i don't know why i decided to keep them all, but you know me...

"i'd invite you back to my place
It's only mine because it holds my suitcase
It looks like home to me alright
But it's a hundred miles from yesterday night

Must i be the man in a suitcase?
Is it me, the man with the stranger's face?

Another key for my collection
For security i race for my connection
Bird in a flying cage you'll never get to know me well
The world's my oyster, a hotel room's my prison cell"

my boss was wondering aloud if my jar of jellybeans would return to the office. Turns out, there was a Costco only 7 miles away...and just 4 past my hotel. i got a traditional polish sausage afterwards. i was so used to going with Matt that i offered the girl $3.20 but it was only $1.61. LOL.

a frosty outlook - 4/365

i definitely didn't wait for the cab out in the street yesterday morning. It was only about 5 degrees outside and where i was heading - Minneapolis, as usual - wasn't going to be much warmer, to say the least. There is an upside to it being crazy cold: you don't have to scrap the frost off of your car windows. All of the moisture in the air has already frozen out. Which is why it is so dry and my nose starts bleeding.

Getting back into the grind was OK, not as bad as i had feared. But it will get crazy soon enough.

i'm sleeping weird. Sunday night was terrible as usual, but this past night was weird as well. i can't wait for my sleep study interview on Friday.

365Stats

What a year. i thought that i was getting in a rut on my pics, but when you get down to it, considering that i work 10-12 hour days, i don't have time to go around town taking pictures of daffodils like the cool kids. It's just the detritus of my not-so-fabulous life. i was trying to do these stats with a paper and pencil, but kept getting confused. Fortunately, Darin/[info]durabear was doing stats as well and gave me the idea to use Excel!

365StatBreakdown

So here it is. my year in a nutshell...or 40-odd pics (most in small format for space consideration). These are some of my favorites or most meaningful (to me) pics. Thanks for coming along for the ride. i hope i didn't bore you. *hugz*

Probably my best - and luckiest - pic of the year.

The Year So Far

i can fly

The year started off slowly. i got to spend a lot of time catching up on "Heroes" and "LOST", the later via Netflix on Matt's xbox. i also spent a lot of time going through the last year's 365-Project and bemoaning the lack of originality and the general malais of this past year. i wasn't sure if i wanted to do a third year, but it is my 50th and the start/end of a decade. So i hedged my bets.

new years party

i'm so far behind on responding to all of your comments on both our trip and our holidays. And i still have to put together this whole end-of-year wrap-up. Thanks to Darin/[info]durabear for helping me with my pencil-&-paper stat problem...hopefully i'll have that for you tonight.

Fun on a Sunday. Tried on these "fun"derwear that we got in SF. They are XL, but that must be for twinks, LOL. Matt and i went to the tubs to soak and ran into Gryph/[info]gryphons_hole who was resting up on his journey home. A great way to end my time off for work. Speaking of, time to go.

bad ankle - 364/365, originally uploaded by wooferSTL.

We got home late Tuesday night and my ankle was just totally trashed from all the walking. So i spent the day sitting on my ass, editing pictures and catching up on all those episodes of "Heroes" that i'd missed this year. It's gotten better.

Hi gang! i'm back! As you probably know, i took Matt off to San Francisco this past week. It was great meeting up with the ones we ran into and sorry we didn't get to see all of you. Matt still gets a little freaked out when he meets so many people that know more about him than he knows about them. LOL! But for the most part, it was a chance for us to get away on our own. It was a lovely time and fortunately it wasn't cold and rainy like it seasonally should have been. Instead, it was nice and sunny. Lots of pics, obviously, so i'll leave it to you to explore on your own if you have time to waste. my set can be found here and Matt's pics can be found

We got our last CSA delivery of the season last week. How time flies!

OK really it was butternut squash bundt cake, but that just doesn't have the same ring.

I wish I had taken a picture of the cabbage roll casseroles I made on Tuesday night. Mmmmm. Kari got to take a pan home with her. Then Leah stayed up late cooking beets to put in the freezer. We still have lots of root vegetables and squash, but I think that will all be good when we get back from Canada.

Soon we have to decide if we are ordering again next year. I am pretty sure we will still order something, but possibly not the whole 30 weeks. They offer every other week or flex plans that might work better, since we have already decided we are going to the cottage in July/August again, and who knows if we will have other vacations too.
